Weeklong virtual career fair supports Columbia students’ employment during the COVID-19 pandemic

With the COVID-19 pandemic hindering the career development of many university graduates, Columbia Global Centers | Beijing held a weeklong virtual career fair for Columbia students to connect them with enterprises, meeting the employment needs of both sides.

The online career fair, lasting from May 17 to 21, offered Columbia students an exclusive opportunity to interact with recruiters, learn about the enterprises, and gain first-hand information about a particular field or industry.

Representatives from 23 companies in China and the US, including HSBC, Haier, Tencent, JD.com, New Oriental, and GE Healthcare, presented on the fair, spanning the finance, consulting, Internet, education, healthcare, and energy industries. The position offers covered full and part-time employment, internships, and summer opportunities.

Over 800 students from nine colleges participated during the week. The Internet sessions, attracting more than 370 students, get the most attention, followed by the finance session with around 210 participants and the education one with some 120 viewers.
