The forum takes various forms, including keynote speeches, panel discussions, student competitions, and more.
Description
The decade from 2010 to 2020 was a critical period for China's urban planning practices, which included multiple transformations and new opportunities. At the beginning of 2019, China's urban and rural planning system officially shifted to a national territorial planning system, formally integrating multiple planning systems into one. This not only marked a transfer of planning management from the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development to the Ministry of Natural Resources but also provided a new framework to rethink the relationship between land use and dynamic management in the current and future temporal and spatial contexts. At the same time, technological advancements such as artificial intelligence and the continuous use of urban data have brought opportunities, further promoting new ideas for various planning-related departments.
To understand this period of transformation, the 10th Urban China Forum aims to locate the intersection of policy and regulatory change and technological innovation and explore the changes that have already happened and those that are yet to come. The forum invites scholars and experts from multiple planning-related fields, including planning law and regulations, smart cities, urban resilience, and urban design, to engage in interdisciplinary dialogue on the transformations and opportunities of urban planning in China in the past decade.
