Bilge Kose

Bilge Kose is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation (GSAPP) and a Landmarks Preservationist in the Research Department of the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission. She earned her Ph.D. in 2018 from the Graduate Program of Conservation of Cultural Heritage at Middle East Technical University (METU).

Her research centers on the preservation of heritage places across multiple scales and dimensions. She explores how digital tools, particularly GIS, data management, data visualization, and digital storytelling, can be leveraged to advance preservation practices. She is especially interested in making heritage knowledge more accessible and engaging to diverse audiences, including professionals, academics, students, and the general public. Since 2018, she has been teaching at Columbia GSAPP, offering courses such as Digital Heritage Documentation: GIS, Data Management, and Building Surveying and Machine Learning in Historic Preservation.
