Current Job Opportunities

Columbia Global Centers | Mumbai (CGCM) functions as a knowledge hub and develops research-based programs and activities on some of the most global challenges of our times, including the environment, health, culture, and economy. Based in Mumbai and working closely with the Director of the CGCM and an exciting global team, the Communications Officer is primarily responsible for the following activities:

  • Writing content for the various platforms subscribed to by the Center
  • Managing press and media outreach for covering the Center’s programs
  • Publicizing the Center’s programs on social media
  • Designing and editing the quarterly newsletter of the Center
  • Designing flyers, brochures, presentations, and publicity materials for the Center’s programs
  • Maintaining and designing updates for the Center’s website
  • Publicizing the Center’s programs on social media
  • Working closely with the design agency to create the Annual Report of the Center
  • Working with external vendors including graphic designers, video editors, etc. when necessary
  • Producing quarterly analytical reports on the Center’s communication strategies and their impact 
  • Participating in calls with other program staff across the Columbia Global Centers network
  • Performing other duties as required to meet the goals and mission of the Center and the Global Centers network
  • Traveling on occasion to advance the goals of the Center

The ideal candidate should have the following Competencies/Attributes:

  • Work experience in Mumbai as a communications professional with knowledge of media design and media connections is essential (3-9 years) 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Experience in communications work for program events such as conferences, workshops, exhibitions, public lectures is essential
  • College/University graduate degree required
  • A creative individual with skills in web design, editing tools, video, and photography is preferred
  • Expertise in crafting and delivering messages to diverse stakeholders on the programs of the Center
  • Good technical skills and ability to engage with print and social media for program outreach
  • Knowledge and ease in working with Mailchimp and understanding Adobe Creative Suite 
  • Ability to work responsibly and collaboratively in an academic setting

Based in Mumbai and reporting to the Director of the Columbia Global Centers | Mumbai, the Senior Finance Officer is responsible for the overall financial management of the Center. 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Managing banking relationships for the Center, including carefully monitoring cash positions
  • Performing monthly international bank reconciliation processes in accordance with the Columbia Global Centers’ Standard Operating Procedures
  • Computing and preparing all forms that are statutorily required under the Income Tax Act, 1961
  • Formulating and tracking the Center’s budget, and enabling the formulation of project and programmatic budgets
  • Processing financial payments for the organization
  • Executing and maintaining records of employee contracts, providing updates on HR policies and compliances that have financial implications, and providing current and prospective employees with information about compensation and benefits policies
  • Providing quarterly budget reports and analysing patterns of spending
  • Preparing all supporting information for the annual audit and liaising with auditors when necessary
  • Documenting and maintaining complete and accurate supporting information for all financial transactions

The ideal candidate should have the following competencies:  

  • Graduate degree in relevant field required; post-graduate degree desirable
  • Relevant work experience of 7-10 years in financial management
  • Work experience in Mumbai required
  • Excellent written and communication skills in English
  • Ability to deliver on deadline, and work in an organized and responsible manner
  • Expertise in using computational systems for data management
