What We Do

what we do

At Columbia Global Center Istanbul, we harness the breadth of Columbia University's scholarship, expertise, and resources to address the world’s most pressing challenges. We stand at the intersection of academia and action, fostering innovation, understanding, and engagement within Türkiye and the surrounding region.

Delivering Global Education

We offer students and scholars not just a classroom, but the world itself as their learning environment. Our educational programs are designed to be transformative, providing immersive experiences that broaden perspectives, ignite curiosity, and prepare future leaders to navigate and shape a complex global landscape.

Supporting Transformative Research

We support pioneering research that redefines boundaries and introduces new perspectives into global debates. By tackling critical issues such as refugee health, gender equality, and sustainability, we propel intellectual endeavors from theory to impact, fostering advancements that resonate far beyond academia.

Engaging the Public in Novel Conversations

Through our symposia, workshops, public talks, and cultural events, we bring together diverse voices to discuss the most important questions of our time. Our initiatives are designed to foster dialogue across cultures, disciplines, and borders, sparking innovation and driving solutions to shared global challenges.

Since its establishment in 2011, the Istanbul Center has become a vibrant hub for Columbia University’s programs and initiatives in Türkiye and the region. Our work spans a wide array of subjects, including human rights, cultural heritage, sustainable development, urbanization, and public health. By convening experts, students, and the public, we help turn insight into impact, creating meaningful and lasting change.
