ITS - Instituto de Tecnologia e Sociedade
The Institute of Technology and Society is a non-profit civil association dedicated to the development of research and projects on the social, legal, cultural and political impact of information and communication technologies. With a wide international performance, derived from the experience and work in its specific area accumulated for more than 10 years by its founders, the ITS is organized in the independent think tank model. The ITS carries out research oriented to the service of the public interest and that generate reflections and proposals that advance the democratic dialogue, the protection of human rights and provide relevant impacts in the formation and execution of public policies and private practices.
Formed by professors and researchers from several institutions such as UERJ, PUC-Rio, FGV, IBMEC, ESPM, MIT Media Lab, among others, ITS counts on a network of national and international partners and, among its debates on privacy and personal data, human rights, internet governance, new media, electronic commerce, social inclusion, digital education, culture and technology, intellectual property, among other topics. The ITS is a multi-institutional hub, converging to its specialist activities that can, from their different formations and academic ties, reflect on the development of information and communication technologies and their impacts on society.
