Jiaojiao HU

Jiaojiao Hu is a pioneering explorer and a leading voice in global cryosphere and climate action. She began her mountaineering career in 2008 and joined the Access Water initiative in 2015, through which she collaborated with female explorers from eight countries to inspire youth worldwide about the urgent need for water conservation and cross-cultural environmental stewardship.

As the Founder and Chairperson of Polar Hub, Jiaojiao spearheads international projects that bridge scientific research, advocacy, and policy dialogue on climate change and glacier protection. Polar Hub operates at the intersection of exploration, education, and impact—empowering youth, women, and indigenous and local communities to take an active role in cryospheric governance and climate resilience.

She actively promotes and supports major UN-led initiatives, including the International Year of Glaciers and the Decade of Action for Cryosphere Sciences, advocating for inclusive, science-based, and community-centered solutions. Through her expeditions, public engagement, and policy influence, Jiaojiao Hu continues to shape the global conversation on frozen ecosystems, placing the Third Pole at the heart of international cooperation and inspiring a new generation of climate leaders to protect the world’s water towers.
