Laura Were
Project Officer
Laura Were is a Project Officer at Columbia Global Centers | Nairobi, where she oversees Taking the Stage, an innovative theatre-based leadership development workshop aimed at enhancing the leadership skills of participating mid-to senior-career women leaders in health in East and Sub-Saharan Africa and in North America.
She holds an MBA in Project Management from Daystar University and a B.Sc. in Strategic Planning and Management from JKUAT. Before joining Columbia Global Centers in 2025, Laura worked with NGOs and institutions across Sub-Saharan Africa in development, policy research, and impact evaluation. Her portfolio includes working on projects in thematic areas of: Health, Gender, Creative economies, Youth empowerment and Vulnerable populations
Throughout her career, she has translated research into practical solutions, promoted evidence-informed policymaking, and supported programs that drive sustainable impact.
