Meet Lavenes

Lavenes

Lavenes is from Lofa County, Liberia. She currently works as a Behavioral Health Worker for a Health and Human Services company in Pennsylvania. She is married, a mother of two, and is expecting her third child.

Lavenes is a community youth organizer, an advocate for social justice and change, and cares passionately about her work in mental health and substance abuse disorders. She aspires to become a social worker to help address some of the challenges faced by individuals in her home country who have become marginalized and faced discrimination because of their social status and mental health condition.

In 2011, Lavenes was awarded the Young Ambassador of Peace of Liberia by the Universal Peace Federation. She is also the first female to be elected as the Deputy Speaker of the Mano River Youth Parliament in April of 2013.
