Sandra Mikal Masira is a development and communications professional with experience in program management, stakeholder engagement, and research. She currently serves as a Program Assistant at Columbia Global Centers | Nairobi, where she plays a central role in coordinating programs and events, strengthening outreach with diverse stakeholders, and supporting Columbia University faculty, students, and the global centers’ network on Center-related matters. In addition to overseeing event logistics, she contributes to communications by ensuring effective messaging, visibility, and digital engagement across platforms.

Previously, Sandra served as Communications Assistant at the same Center, where she was responsible for content creation, editorial support, publications, and the strategic promotion of the center’s initiatives. She also managed the Center’s digital presence and collaborations with external partners, reinforcing its visibility and impact.

Her professional background includes research and programmatic experience with the University of Notre Dame, the Institute for Development Studies at the University of Nairobi, FHI-360, Self Help Africa, and the UN Millennium Villages Project.

Sandra holds a Master’s degree in Development Studies from the University of Nairobi, a Bachelor of Business Management from Moi University, and a Certificate in Web Design from the Kenya Institute of Professional Studies. She brings a unique blend of communications expertise and program management skills, underpinned by a commitment to advancing evidence-based development and impactful community initiatives.
