Location: Columbia Global Center Beijing & WeChat Channels
Language: Book Talk (Chinese), Information Session (English)
As global consensus on sustainable development goals strengthens, green finance has become a key force in driving this process. The book The Financial Ecosystem: The Role of Finance in Achieving Sustainability, co-authored by Columbia University Professors Dong Guo and Satyajit Bose and Anne Simpson, the Global Head of Sustainability for Franklin Templeton, systematically analyzes the theory and practice of sustainable finance. The book not only discusses modern financial instruments such as ESG investing and impact investing but also delves into the significance of natural and human capital in the capital markets, highlighting the limitations of current financial accounting methods in assessing these capitals.
Columbia Global Center Beijing will invite the authors, Prof. Dong Guo and Prof. Satyajit Bose, along with Dr. Jun Ma, Director of the Beijing Institute of Green Finance and Sustainable Development, and Dr. Yao Wang, Dean of the International Institute of Green Finance at Central University of Finance and Economics, to discuss how financial tools and policies can drive broader social change. The discussion will cover how financial instruments can achieve long-term sustainability in the market and how financial capital can be integrated with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) indicators to promote a green economic transformation.
Meanwhile, Prof. Satyajit Bose will lead the information session about the M.S. in Sustainability Management Program, co-designed by Columbia University's Climate School and School of Professional Studies. During the session, prospective students will learn about the curriculum design, program highlights, admission requirements, scholarship offerings, and alumni networking opportunities of the program. The session will also include a Q&A.
