As global climate risks continue to intensify, the challenges of biodiversity conservation and the transition toward a low-carbon future are becoming increasingly interconnected. Against this backdrop, Nature-based Solutions (NbS) have emerged as a critical approach for integrating ecosystem conservation, carbon sequestration and enhancement, and regional sustainable development.
Columbia Global Center Beijing, with support from the President’s Global Innovation Fund of Columbia University, will convene a roundtable discussion on August 3 in Beijing, China. This discussion, led by two scholars from Columbia University, Dr. Yushu Xia and Dr. Viorel Popescu, will bring together leading experts from universities, research institutions, and international environmental organizations in China and the United States.
The discussion will feature insights into the latest NbS research and field practices, while exploring key challenges including scaling implementation, impact assessment, biodiversity finance, and global collaboration. The event aims to generate actionable insights to inform future research and practice in advancing Nature-based Solutions.
A limited number of seats are now available for this event. We warmly invite scholars, researchers, and professionals working in biodiversity, environmental conservation, and related fields to attend as observers and participate in the discussion.
