Kai Zhang
Kai Zhang’s work spans philanthropy and sustainable development, focusing on engaging stakeholders to build enabling platforms and integrate resources for collective social impact. With years of expertise in sustainability and ESG, he specializes in green development and sustainability management for industrial parks, corporate ESG practices, and green finance. Currently, he leads green development and sustainability initiatives at Shanghai Zizhu National Hi-tech Park, overseeing the formulation and implementation of the zone’s holistic sustainability strategy to establish it as a “Global Model for Sustainable Development.” He also manages organizational operations and project execution for his institutions. Guided by the mission of advancing the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and integrating innovative management with ESG principles, he provides sustainability consulting services to Fortune 500 companies such as Microsoft, Intel, Coca-Cola, and ExxonMobil, embedding sustainability into corporate strategies.
Kai maintains strong partnerships with international organizations, including the United Nations, World Bank, embassies, global foundations, and universities. He spearheads key projects such as the Sustainability and Social Impact Partners at Shanghai Zizhu National Hi-tech Park. At Zijiang Foundation, he co-initiated the “Zijiang Discipline Development Fund,” “Sustainable Investment Research Center,” and “Sustainable Financiers” Club at Shanghai Jiao Tong University’s Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance.
Kai holds an International EMBA from the SAIF-SNAI Program (Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance and Shanghai National Accounting Institute). He is a co-author of the book One Hour ESG and the founder of the TEDxZizhuPark community. He has also been recognized as a “United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Asia-Pacific Youth Leader,” “Global Shaper of the World Economic Forum,” “Asian Scholar of the Swedish Institute’s Sustainability Management Program (SIMP),” and a judge for the UNESCAP Asia-Pacific Citypreneurs Innovation Competition in Seoul.
He was also named to “2019 Forbes China 30 Under 30”, “Tatler Asia’s 2021 Gen. T List of Asian Rising Pioneers” and serves as an industry mentor at East China Normal University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University’s Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance.
