Columbia Global Center Beijing, in collaboration with the Columbia Climate School, will host the Climate School Admitted Student Day to welcome the incoming cohort of Columbia Climate School students and connect them with alumni, current students, faculty, and the broader Columbia climate community.
The event offers newly admitted students an opportunity to learn more about the Climate School before beginning their academic journey, while also building connections with faculty, peers, and alumni in China.
The evening will be hosted in person by Professor Minfang Ting, Co-Senior Director of Education at the Columbia Climate School and Faculty Steering Committee Member at Columbia Global Center Beijing. Professor Alexis Abramson, Dean of the Columbia Climate School, will join online to deliver opening remarks alongside Professor Ting.
The program will also feature an online academic roundtable with four Columbia Climate School program directors: Professor Lisa Dale, Director of the MA in Climate and Society; Professor Lisa Sachs, Director of the MS in Climate Finance; Professor Jason Smerdon, Co-Director of the MS in Climate; and Professor Radley Horton, Director of the Advanced Certificate in Climate System and Data Analysis. They will discuss academic frontiers in climate education, program highlights, and opportunities for students across different fields.
Jasmin, a current student, will join in person to share her program experience and offer practical advice for incoming students preparing for the fall semester. The final portion of the event will be dedicated to networking and an alumni and student reception.
The event will be conducted in English.
