Caoji SANMU

Protecting the environment is in Caoji Sanmu’s DNA as a Tibetan. As a nonprofit practitioner and social entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience across the Tibetan regions of western China, Sanmu is dedicated to community-led climate adaptation and ecological conservation. 

She designs and scales grassroots initiatives that fuse indigenous wisdom with modern ecological science—from traditional beekeeping and peony cultivation for soil regeneration to riparian reforestation along the upper Tsachu (Mekong River). As a social entrepreneur, she bridges local organic producers with fair, sustainable markets to bolster livelihoods while safeguarding natural resources. She also manages a Tibetan

intangible cultural heritage center in Shangri-La Old Town, where she connects cultural preservation with climate action. Caoji holds a Master’s in Human Resource Management.
