On July 22, Columbia Global Centers | Beijing successfully held an event of Columbia University Undergraduate Students and Parents Gathering. Thirty-three Columbia undergraduate students, including 13 newly admitted students and 20 current students, 7 Columbia alumni, and 17 parents participated in the event.

On July 20, Dr. Les Joynes, Visiting Scholar in Art and Education at Columbia University, visited Columbia Global Centers | Beijing to join an event of "Columbia Beijing Summer" arts series.
Columbia Global Centers | Beijing is hosting a certificate workshop on energy and environment offered by Earth Institute this summer in Beijing, and co-sponsoring a certificate training program in teaching Chinese and a student summer program on social science at Columbia.
On March 11, Columbia Global Centers | Beijing, joined with the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences of Peking University and Peking University Library, hosted an opening ceremony for the exhibition titled “Hu Shih in the Intellectual History of the 20th Century in China” to commemorate Columbia alumnus Hu Shih and his legacy. HAN Xiao, Assistant to the Director of Peking University's Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences and ZOU Xinming, Associate Director of Special Collections Division at Peking University Library, also joined the event.
On June 24, Professor Jane Gaines from Film Department at Columbia University was invitied to deliver a public lecture on how to make Chinese cinema great again at Columbia Global Centers | Beijing.
The Columbia Beijing Week (June 14-19), organized by Columbia Global Centers | Beijing, highlighted Columbia’s eminent professors and senior academic leadership, joined by renowned international and Chinese scholars, artists, film directors, critics and writers. The events are well attended by Columbia Alumni, students, parents and members of the media.
On June 13, Columbia Global Centers | Beijing invited Dr. Yishi Liu from School of Architecture, Tsinghua University to deliver a public lecture on the construction of "new Beijing" in the first decades of the P.R. China. Prof.Ying Qian, Assistant Professor of East Asian Languages and Culture at Columbia University, was the moderator.
In the 40-minute talk, Alice Kessler-Harris, R. Gordon Hoxie Professor of American History at Columbia University, unfolded the dynamic history of American women gaining and defining their citizenship. She began her remarks by commenting on the success of a 2013 book written by Sheryl Sandberg,the COO of Facebook, which urged women to assert themselves and accelerate career demands.
