Christina Katsagoni

Christina Katsagoni is the Regional Manager for Europe at the International Initiative for Pediatrics and Nutrition (IIPAN), a global pediatric nutrition initiative headquartered at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) in New York City. IIPAN focuses on improving clinical nutrition care for children worldwide through capacity-building, clinician training, and the development of sustainable nutrition programs - efforts that she leads strategically throughout Europe.

She is also an Assistant Professor of Pediatric Clinical Nutrition at the International Hellenic University and one of Greece’s leading experts in pediatric clinical nutrition, with special expertise in oncology, gastrointestinal diseases, and inborn errors of metabolism. From 2013 to 2025, she served as a Clinical Dietitian at Agia Sofia Children’s Hospital in Athens, working extensively with pediatric patients who required specialized nutritional management. She maintains an ongoing collaboration with the Marianna V. Vardinoyannis–ELPIDA Pediatric Oncology Unit of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, contributing specialized nutrition support for pediatric oncology patients through interdisciplinary clinical practice.

From 2018 to 2020, Chrstina Katsagoni was a Visiting Research Scholar at Rutgers University in the United States, conducting postdoctoral research in clinical nutrition, and had previously completed advanced clinical training at Birmingham Children’s Hospital in the United Kingdom. She has contributed to national and international pediatric clinical nutrition guidelines and maintains collaborations with Columbia University (EPICkids study), EFAD, and the ONCA initiative.

Her scientific output includes more than 30 peer-reviewed publications, an H-index of 16, over 1,100 citations, and keynote lectures at major European conferences such as ESPGHAN, ESPEN, EFAD, and other scientific events. She also serves as a reviewer for 22 international scientific journals.

Christia Katsagoni holds a PhD in Clinical Nutrition, an MSc in Applied Dietetics and Nutrition, and a BSc in Nutrition & Dietetics from Harokopio University, as well as a BSc in Medical Laboratory Technology from the University of West Attica. She is a native Greek speaker and fluent in English.
