Manuel Blanco Claro

Manuel is a lawyer with a law degree from the Universidad de Chile School of Law, Santiago, and an LL.M. from Columbia University, New York.

In his more than 30 years of professional experience, Manuel has developed his practice representing local and foreign clients in corporate matters, M&A, antitrust, foreign investment, energy, litigation, insolvency and reorganization in industries such as metal manufacturing, real estate, construction, construction materials, energy generation, farming, financial services, education and other services. 

A member of the Chilean Bar Association (Colegio de Abogados de Chile A.G.), he is listed on the list of arbitrators appointed by the Santiago Court of Appeals and on the roster of bankruptcy arbitrators of the Chilean Insolvency and Reorganization Superintendency (Superintendencia de Insolvencia y Reemprendimiento). In addition, he is currently a member of the Advisory Boards of the ProBono Foundation and of the Columbia Global Center Santiago. He is also a professor of Commercial Law and director of the Department of Corporate Law at Universidad Finis Terrae in Santiago.

Previously, he has served on the board of private and public corporations, he has been a member of the Chilean Bar Association's ethics tribunal and of the Chilean-American Chamber of Commerce's (Amcham Chile) advisory committee to the board. At Amcham Chile he was also president of the legal committee.

Manuel has been recognized by the specialized publications Legal 500 and IFLR Energy and Infrastructure as a Chilean Leading Lawyer. 

Married with six children, he is a reserve officer of the Chilean Navy Marine Corps (Infantería de Marina).
