Ling San Lau

Ling San Lau, MBBS, MPH, is an Associate Research Scientist in the Heilbrunn Department of Population and Family Health at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health, affiliated with the Care and Protection of Children (CPC) Learning Network and the Program on Forced Migration and Health. A physician and global health researcher, she is committed to advancing the health, rights, and well-being of children impacted by displacement, conflict and other complex emergencies. Dr. Lau’s research interests include adolescent mental health and psychosocial wellbeing and childhood sexual violence. Dr. Lau has previously conducted policy research to strengthen resilience and self-reliance among Syrian refugees and vulnerable host communities in Jordan, and co-led an initiative with the Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma to support ethical, trauma-informed reporting on children and families impacted by forced displacement.  She co-leads the Global Threat Assessment 2025 for WeProtect Global Alliance, shaping global strategies to prevent child sexual exploitation and abuse online.
