Africa and Africanity Lecture Series

The notion of equality and equity are at the core of democracy as an ideal mode of governance. In practice, democracy is culturally contextual. The challenge of implementing democracy in Africa is that foreign cultures, religions and modes of governance have been superimposed upon traditional ones, yielding confusion as to the roles of the various sectors of society - across gender, age, parents, children, in-laws etc.

In an effort to create dialogue and an opportunity for understanding, this lecture series will address three subjects pertaining to these pertinent issues.
