CBS Concludes Successful MBA Information Sessions in Santiago

August 18, 2022

Nicole Newham, Assistant Director of Admissions at Columbia Business School (CBS), visited Chile in August to offer prospective students information regarding the CBS application process and MBA program.

While in Santiago, Newham began her tour with a general presentation to several interested candidates in the auditorium at the headquarters of Banco Bci. The event, sponsored by the bank and organized by the Santiago Center and the CBS Alumni Club of Chile, was oversubscribed due to high demand and limited seating capacity from Covid restrictions. Following the presentation by Newham, interested applicants actively participated in a Q&A session with the CBS representative and two members of the CBS Alumni Club, Giancarlo Solari (CBS’21) and Alexander Sideman (CBS’17), who spoke fondly of their experiences while studying at Columbia in New York.

"All of the prospective students in the room were interested in the Full-Time MBA program, with a mix of students interested in our January-entry point and August-entry point. The group was engaged and eager to learn more about the program from myself and the alumni in the room, who were able to shed light on the student life at CBS, living in NYC, and career resources," says Newham.

"At the end of the session, I had the pleasure of admitting two CBS applicants to the Class of 2024, starting in January 2023! They were so shocked and surprised, and this was a fun way to end the session," she adds.

Following that information session, Newham held more intimate, small group conversations with interested applicants for both those who attended the morning information session and had further questions, as well as for those who were unable to attend the earlier session.

Additionally, while in Santiago the CBS representative participated in The MBA Tour in Santiago and held meetings with CBS alumni and consultancies interested in sending their employees to an MBA program.

"I met a lot of great candidates in Santiago, who have kept in touch following the information sessions. I’m excited to follow along with their application journey in the weeks to come, and hope to return to Santiago in future years!" Newham says.
