Future Collaborations with the Maison des Femmes in Saint-Denis

December 04, 2024

The Maison des Femmes in Saint-Denis is a resource for women in situations of precarity and violence. Attached to the Delafontaine hospital, it offers local multidisciplinary care. Founded in 2016 by Dr. Ghada Hatem, the non-profit aims to provide concrete and comprehensive help to women in difficulty in Seine-Saint-Denis. The Maison also works in the fields of prevention, education, and public health.

Each year, approximately 20,000 women are welcomed across all the Maisons des Femmes, and this number continues to rise. There are currently about two dozen Maisons des Femmes throughout France, and sixteen new locations are currently being created and certified. This fall, the new full name of the organization became Maisons des Femmes Restart, symbolizing a “promise of healing and renewal for women.”

This November, the organization welcomed its first general director, Violette Perrotte. She will lead the expanding missions in France and internationally. The Columbia Global Paris Center looks forward to future collaborations, such as training workshops and public events.
