This Giving Day, Help Columbia Global Bring New Ideas to Shared Challenges, From Local to Global
Today, Oct. 28, give to Columbia Global and power the students, scholars, faculty, and partners turning ideas into action.
Every year on Columbia Giving Day, alumni, students, partners, and friends around the world give during the same 24 hours to support the parts of Columbia they care about most. This year, on Wednesday, Oct. 28, you can direct your gift to Columbia Global and the work we do around the world. Give today.
What your gift to Columbia Global supports
Columbia Global connects Columbia to the world and the world to Columbia. Together, Columbia World Projects, the Columbia Global Centers, the Committee on Global Thought, the Institute for Ideas and Imagination, and Undergraduate Global Engagement help students and faculty take their learning and research to the places where global challenges unfold. They work side by side with local partners who define the problems and shape the solutions, and what they learn together comes back to campus, into classrooms, labs, and the next generation of Columbia’s work.
For Lina Al Zouabi, her partnership with Columbia Global changed the course of her career. A Syrian researcher, Al Zouabi joined the Columbia Global Emerging Scholars program through the Columbia Global Center in Amman in 2022 to study the lives of Syrian asylum seekers in Jordan. That work set the direction for what came next. She earned her PhD in English language and literature from Karabük University with research on refugee narratives, and today she teaches English language and literature at Maaref University of Applied Sciences.
“The Columbia Global Emerging Scholar program fundamentally transformed my academic trajectory,” she said. “It gave me the tools, mentorship, and institutional backing to approach refugee issues with rigor and nuance.” (Read her story.)
Multiply that experience across hundreds of students, faculty, scholars, and partners each year, and it changes how Columbia learns and teaches. Your Giving Day gift helps make more of these experiences possible.
