Alumni Spotlight: Alejandra Marinovic Appointed Professor of Applied Ethics at UC

Columbia alumna Alejandra Marinovic, GSAS’02, has been appointed to the position of Professor of Applied Ethics at Universidad Católica.

Columbia alumna Alejandra Marinovic (GSAS’02) has been appointed to the position of Professor of Applied Ethics at Universidad Católica (UC).

“I am thrilled to join this timely initiative of UC, which aims to address society’s current challenges from an interdisciplinary perspective. I am convinced that complexity and cooperation are necessary to build knowledge in these vertiginous times, and to offer ethical and feasible contributions to today's human problems,” she says.

With a PhD in Economics, her areas of specialty are business ethics, and ethics in development and public policy. In Economics she has specialized in international economics, applied macroeconomics and labor economics. Her most recent research has to do with trust and civic education.

Until 2021, Marinovic was an Associate Professor at Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez’s Business School, where she conducted research and teaching for 12 years, and she was the Academic Director of the MBA Full Time International Program.

She also forms part of the External Council of Experts of the Qualitas Agency for the certification and improvement of higher education.
