Amjad Alsoud is a sociologist with a PhD in Sociology from Damascus University (2023). His research focuses on issues of asylum and migration, social change, social capital, gender and women’s issues, as well as the sociological analysis of media, political, cultural, and religious discourse. He has taught sociology at Damascus University and the Arab International University, and has worked as a sociologist with several NGO’s, including SOS Children’s Villages, Danish Refugee Council, UNHCR, GOPA- DRED, and the A.F.H (Action for Humanity).
His current research at Columbia Global Center Amman examines how cumulative social capital influences the voluntary return of Syrian refugees in Jordan.
