Israa Sadder is a Syrian researcher based in Jordan whose work explores the social and emotional dimensions of forced migration. She holds a Master's degree in Social Work with a specialization in Migration and Refugee Studies from the German Jordanian University.

Her research examines relational resilience among refugee families, exploring how love, marriage, family relationships, and social bonds are sustained and reshaped during displacement. Drawing on qualitative research and lived experience, she seeks to amplify the voices of displaced communities and inform more humane, context-sensitive approaches to migration policy and practice. Alongside her academic work, Israa has several years of experience in humanitarian and development programming, with a focus on protection, gender, education, and community resilience. Through the Columbia Global Emerging Scholars Fellowship, she aims to deepen her research on refugee families, strengthen interdisciplinary collaborations, and bridge academic scholarship with practical solutions that support displaced communities.
