V Faye McNeill

V Faye McNeill is Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering, at Columbia Engineering, The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. As an undergraduate at the California Institute of Technology, McNeill studied the atmosphere for a very personal reason and is particularly interested in how aerosols affect global climate. She is focused on the basic chemistry and physics behind the cloud-forming and light-absorbing characteristics of organic aerosols in the lab. She also works with other groups to integrate their piece of the climate puzzle into the big picture, including climate modelers who write the massive, computer-based simulations that attempt to predict how individual parts of the environment interact to govern Earth’s climate. She received her B.S. in chemical engineering from Caltech in 1999 and her PhD in chemical engineering from MIT in 2005, where she was a NASA Earth System Science Fellow.
