As emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases continue to pose significant threats to global health systems, data-driven prediction and modeling have become essential tools for timely public health responses. Accurate forecasts of disease spread enable timely interventions and epidemic control measures.
Dr. Sen Pei of Columbia Mailman School of Public Health is a leading expert in developing mathematical models and advanced computational methods to forecast infectious disease dynamics. As part of Columbia Global's 2025 Scholars-in-Residence program, Dr. Pei will deliver a talk at the Beijing Global Center. He will showcase cutting-edge techniques used to predict disease trajectories, focusing on influenza and COVID-19. His presentation will highlight recent breakthroughs in real-time forecasting, antimicrobial resistance surveillance, and their practical applications in shaping public health policies and interventions.
Following the lecture, Dr. Pei will also introduce graduate programs offered by Columbia’s Department of Environmental Health Sciences, providing a comprehensive overview of Mailman’s innovative curriculum design, educational philosophy, and career prospects.
This event is open to students and professionals passionate about public health, data science, and infectious disease modeling. Alumni of the Mailman School are especially encouraged to join. Don’t miss this opportunity to explore how computational tools are transforming the future of global health.
