CALL FOR ART SUBMISSIONS

No-Boundaries 1

Columbia Global Centers, in partnership with the No-Boundaries Committee, have launched the third annual 2018 No-Boundaries International Art Exhibitions to foster global awareness and social responsibility in young citizens around the world.

The partners invite young people to submit artwork that will be publicly exhibited in their home region in the coming year. The No-Boundaries theme this year is “One Tree, One City”, which encourages exploration of the bond between cities, trees and nature through art.

The exhibitions aim to build an international art and educational platform by connecting young artists without boundaries of nationality, languages, or culture. Their art will be shown in galleries open to the public in the host cities of Beijing, Paris, Nairobi, New York and Rio de Janeiro beginning in July 2018 in Beijing, and then appear at the other regional hubs through Jan. 2019. Each city will exhibit selected artwork of children locally and from the other sites, and display a digital representation of all the artwork from children worldwide.

“The No-Boundaries exhibitions exemplify Columbia University’s educational mission by showcasing the artistic talent of young people from many cultures who are actively engaged with issues that affect all peoples regardless of their locale,” said Safwan Masri, executive vice president in charge of the Columbia Global Centers, “This presents a unique opportunity to leverage the power of the arts as a lingua franca that connects human beings across geographical, linguistic, and cultural borders.”

The exhibitions in each host city will be accompanied by a series of public lectures and arts activities with leading scholars and experts in children’s education. These public events are designed to help raise young citizens’ understanding of environmental protection, enhance their sense of global awareness, and encourage them to express their ideas through art and actions.

The exhibition is not a competition; all youth participants, from kindergarten to high school across the world, are encouraged to submit original artworks. Submissions are currently being accepted until June 1, 2018.
