The Columbia Global Center Santiago, in collaboration with Columbia Business School (CBS), the CBS Alumni Association of Chile, and Banco BCI, hosted the traditional CBS Experience Panel in Santiago.

Held on July 17, the panel attracted around 50 aspiring MBA applicants who attended this interactive session led by Assistant Director of Admissions Maura Bonini. Bonini provided an in-depth overview of the Columbia MBA program and the application process, highlighting what makes Columbia’s MBA one of the top programs globally. She offered insights into what recruiters seek in applications and provided valuable advice on how to approach the essay questions effectively.

Bonini further delved into the five core pillars established by Dean Costis Maglaras upon his appointment in 2019. These pillars—climate and sustainability, the digital future, 21st-century finance, entrepreneurship and innovation, and business and society—are designed to shape the future of business education at CBS and ultimately influence global business practices.

Following her presentation, a diverse group of Chilean alumni engaged with the audience in a lively Q&A session. Matías de Bourguignon (MBA’22), Francisca Lund (CBS’15), Raúl Sapunar (CBS’15), Miguel Schloss (CBS’70), and Juan José Silva (CBS’19) shared their motivations for pursuing an MBA at Columbia. They discussed the academic aspects, student life, the unique advantages of studying in New York City, and the career and personal development opportunities it offers. They also emphasized the benefits of being part of a global network like the Columbia Business School Alumni Association.

Beyond the Experience Panel, Bonini participated in additional recruitment activities during her stay in Santiago. These included small group discussions with prospective candidates, a special breakfast focused on women’s admissions, and visits to local companies.

This event not only highlights Columbia Business School's commitment to attracting top talent from Chile but also reinforces the country's significance in the school's global recruitment strategy.
