The title of the lecture was: ‘Variability in Biological Systems: Study of 24-h Blood Pressure Monitoring’ and it was delivered by Dr. Jesus Melgarejo, Assistant Professor of Neurosciences at the University of Texas, Rio Grande Valley, and moderated by Dr. Joseph Terwilliger.

More about the Lecturer:

Dr. Jesus Melgarejo is a physician-scientist, assistant professor of neurosciences at the University of Texas, Rio Grande Valley, with a strong background in epidemiological studies, especially population-based and case-control cohorts. For more than a decade, his research has been focused on understanding how the systemic cardiovascular system contributes to the development of diseases associated with vascular aging. His expertise includes clinical and research training with a focus on epidemiology, study design, statistical analysis of conventional and large datasets, database management, and scientific writing. He has been involved in population-based studies including the Maracaibo Aging Study, FLEMENGHO study, Rotterdam Study, and Northern Manhattan studies. As a result of these experiences, he has a profound understanding of how to conduct innovative and practicable research to test hypotheses necessary to change public health actions and clinical practice.
