In 1938, when the São Paulo merchants replaced the merchandise sold in bulk for packaged goods and the traditional book by check and by credit, the Federação do Comércio do Estado de São Paulo ( Federation of Commerce of the State of São Paulo) was founded, it is the current Federação do Comércio de Bens, Serviços e Turismo do Estado de São Paulo (Federation of Commerce of Goods, Services and Tourism of the State Of São Paulo - FecomercioSP).

Its objective was to represent the interests of the companies of the sector and contribute to its constant modernization. Throughout its existence, FecomercioSP has developed its activity aiming to promote brazilian economic growth. Fecomercio SP guaranteed social achievements through a permanent constructive dialogue between capital and labor. It defended the internal market, free enterprise, privatization and differentiated treatment for small and micro enterprises.

FecomercioSP emerged from the union of 17 employers' union organizations. Today it is the main São Paulo trade union entity in the commerce and services sectors. It congregates 156 employers' unions and manages, in the State, the Social Service of Commerce (Sesc) and the National Service of Commercial Learning (Senac).
