Columbia Global Centers | Amman is hosting an Implementation Science Institute on March 13-16, 2023. The Institute consists of a four-day workshop that brings together program managers, policy makers, researchers, and students to engage in customized learning activities aimed at building capacity to design, conduct, and analyze implementation science research addressing migrant health in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The purpose of the Implementation Science Institute is to train professionals in implementation science research with a focus on migrant health, enabling them to effectively translate evidence-based interventions into policy and practice.

The Institute will provide an introduction to implementation science research concepts, methods and approaches. It is designed to be an interactive, hands-on learning experience, and will include case studies of implementation science studies addressing key priorities in migrant health. Faculty from Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health and the American University of Beirut will assist participants with identifying implementation science research questions and provide guidance on obtaining funding for implementation research.

Implementation Science is the study of methods to promote the adoption and integration of evidence-based practices, interventions and policies into routine health care and public health settings. The effective translation and uptake of research findings into practice is a major impediment in advancing global health. Implementation science has been posited as a pathway to achieving impact.

This Institute is part of the project “Implementation Science and Migrant Health: Addressing the Know-Do Gap” supported by the President’s Global Innovation Fund.
