We value our African culture and heritage and pride ourselves in sharing these diverse forms of expression through creative and liberal writing, visual or performing arts. Our Center has in the past offered cultural diversity programs to advance these skills. The Center has partnered with Kwani? Open Mic - a monthly spoken word, poetry and music event that takes place in Nairobi every 1st Tuesday of the month. Kwani Open Mic targets young people between 18 to 40 years old, and it is the longest-running youth, art and expression event of its kind in Nairobi, now in its 10th year.
The event has created a platform that allows young people to express themselves openly without fear of any external forces or the feeling of being judged. The platform also targets young professionals seeking creative social spaces to enjoy artistic expression. The Center is delighted to be sponsoring the August open mic session on Tuesday, 8th August, from 5 pm, which will take place at Wasanii Restaurant at the Kenya National Theatre. The main feature for this event will be Kenya's seasoned artist, conscious entrepreneur, Eisenhower Fellow and WWF Kenya Council of Ambassador, Juliani.
