Columbia University is inviting faculty members, postdocs, and doctoral students to submit proposals for climate-related research in Brazil, with a particular focus on Rio de Janeiro. The call, initiated by Columbia Global, builds on the success of a previous round of funding and seeks to address critical issues relating to urban sustainability, climate finance, and ocean sciences.
Key themes of interest range from public health and climate resilience to renewable energy and the impacts of climate change on vulnerable populations. The research aims to tackle the multifaceted challenges posed by climate change, urban density, and sea-level rise, especially in coastal cities like Rio de Janeiro and is part of the mandate of the new Climate Hub in Rio.
The Columbia Global Center in Rio de Janeiro has more than 10 years of experience facilitating Columbia faculty and student work in Brazil and has extensive partnerships in Rio and Brazil overall. The Columbia Global Center in Rio will play a major coordinating and supporting role facilitating and monitoring the work supported by these awards.
This webinar is a chance for interested applicants to ask questions and gain further understanding.
