The Future of Business in Jordan in the Face of COVID-19

The containment efforts and shutting down of large sectors of the economy have triggered an unavoidable global economic downturn. Experts are warning of a global recession that will be deeply felt, particularly by middle income countries. In Jordan, the considerable disruption to most industries presents major financial implications and challenges. The severe structural shock on the demand and supply sides of the economy is impacting supply chains, the structure of production, as well as the allocation of capital and labor.

To gain insight on what the economic landscape will look like as we emerge from the recent lockdown, and the planning required in managing such extraordinary economic scenarios, Columbia Global Centers | Amman held a webinar with prominent business leaders who offered their perspectives on the most likely pathways toward a national economic recovery, as well as the potential risks that must be averted by policy-makers during this period.
