Dr. Murugi Ndirangu the Director for Columbia Global Centers I Nairobi is nominated as part of the National Commission for Science, Technology, and Innovation (NACOSTI) interagency committee on to National Development.  The interagency draws partners from the government; academia, NGOs and research institutes to collaborate,  inform and strengthen national development through Kenya’s flagship Vision 2030. The committee will focus on NACOSTI’s mandate of Research, Science, Technology, and Innovation (RST&I)

Kenya’s Vision 2030 Flagship Programme aims to transform Kenya into a newly industrializing, middle-income country providing a high quality of life to all its citizens by 2030.  The programme is advice by three main pillars: Economic Pillar-to raise Kenya’s GDP growth rate to the region of 10 percent in some years. Social Pillar: aims to improve the quality of life for all Kenyans by targeting a cross-section of human and social welfare projects and programmes, and the Political Pillar:  envisions a country with a democratic system reflecting the aspirations and expectations of its people.

NACOSTI is established as a State Corporation of the Republic of Kenya by the Science, Technology, and Innovation Act. No 28. NACSOTI regulates and assures quality in Research, Science and Technology, and Innovation sector and conducting a review on the progress in scientific research systems.
