In the time of social distancing, alumni and current students from Columbia University and affiliated schools gathered together for a virtual happy hour hosted by Columbia Global Centers | Nairobi and Columbia Global Centers | Tunis. The event took place on August 6th, 2020 at 5 p.m. (Tunis)/ 7 p.m. (Nairobi).
During the introduction by participants, everyone shared their backgrounds and topics they were interested in, ranging from multiculturalism, entrepreneurship, to academia. As members of our community got to know one another, the discussion moved to the representation of Africa in the Western narrative., the improvements needed for the education system in Kenya and the U.S., and the fostering of multicultural environments.
The Happy Hour event ended with participants being connected through the Facebook group created by Columbia Global Centers | Tunis and Columbia Global Centers | Nairobi.
