The Nairobi Center in partnership IFRA and GLNA hosted a workshop on the governing peri-urban land brought together experts in Urban and Town Physical planning and management, researchers and professionals from different backgrounds to reflect upon the impact of urbanization on peri-urban land markets, land use transformations and the use of technology on land management systems- Case Study of Kajiado County.  

The discussion revolved around the “Impact of Rapid Urbanization on Land-use Change in the Outskirts of Nairobi’ that portrayed the change of what was agricultural land into concrete spaces.  A study of Kajaido’s County’s data management to measure and regulate of peri-urban land markets at the local government level portrayed the significant intersection of the use technology, data integrity, and governance to combat mismanagement, real-time planning, and corruption.

The workshop was attended by approximately 40 participants who expressed how the increased knowledge and reference will enhance their active engagement in the physical planning and management, the fiscal allotments, policy and more so how to safeguard the assets of natural resources in the every changing landscapes of their communities.
