Introducing the Fourth Cohort of Mellon Fellows

Columbia Global Centers | Amman welcomes the fourth cohort of fellows under the Mellon Fellowship Program.

April 13, 2023

Earlier this year, Columbia Global Centers | Amman welcomed the fourth cohort of fellows under the Mellon Fellowship Program. In its fourth and final iteration under this grant, the Program is hosting the largest cohort yet, comprising nine fellows covering a range of disciplines within the humanities.

This year, the nine fellows are originally from Russia, Syria, Turkey, and Yemen and they will be spending the year working on their proposed research in their respective fields and benefiting from the various components of the Fellowship. The disciplines this year and the focus of the research projects include Archeology, Arts, Linguistics, Sociology, and Media.

The Mellon Fellowship Program aims to enhance the learning and professional experiences of emerging displaced scholars who are advanced PhD students, post-doctoral fellows, and early-career scholars who have been forcibly uprooted from their home countries and respective academic institutions for reasons related to the emergence of security concerns and armed conflict.
