From February 26 to March 26, more than 100 Columbia University students, alumni, and community members in the Greater China Area and other parts of Asia joined the C.V. Starr East Asian Library and Columbia Global Centers | Beijing online for the "Access Library at Home" workshop series.

In this final event of this successful series, Jim Cheng, Director of the C.V. Starr Library, and Dr. Chengzhi Wang, Chinese Collection Librarian of the Starr Library, introduced the 119-year history of the Library and its vast resources and unique Chinese collection that is particularly strong in history, philosophy, traditional literature, and increasingly film studies.

Given that most Chinese/Asian students cannot come to the Morningside Heights campus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and they have increasing needs for various types of library support, this five-week program was designed to enhance the library’s engagement with the off-campus students, and to provide students with the basic and advanced library resources, tools, and methods to help fulfill their remote learning and research.

Students also learned about the University's partner libraries of Chinese academic organizations, including Peking University, Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Zhejiang University, and China Academy of Social Science, where they may find further assistance and resources.
