Columbia-CCMU Medical Technology Innovation and Application in Pediatrics International Conference

On January 9, the Columbia-CCMU Medical Technology Innovation and Application in Pediatrics International Conference closed in Beijing with dozens of leading pediatricians, chief physicians, and experts from best hospitals of China and Columbia University participating.

As a part of the academic exchange series between Columbia University and Capital Medical University, this conference focuses on pediatrics, in the theme of achievement transformation in clinical and medical research. Aiming to explore possible international cooperation in clinical treatment, medical research, applications of the medical technology, capacity building, and etc., the conference has laid a foundation for mutual learning and understanding on innovative medical teaching and practices and possible collaborations.

Dr. Xunming JI, Vice President of Capital Medical University, and Dr. Jordan Orange, Pediatrician-in-Chief of Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital at NewYork–Presbyterian Hospital and Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at Columbia University's Vagelos College of Physicians & Surgeons, delivered opening remarks.

The first session focused on medical research on pediatric primary immunodeficiency and possible collaboration, featuring Dr. Jordan Orange. The second session emphasized on department management and leadership case-based practice, featuring William Runkle, Vice Chair of Department of Pediatrics at Columbia University. The third session addressed advanced treatments for neonatal congenital heart diseases case study and cooperative exploration of clinical medical technology innovation and application, featuring Dr. Richard A. Polin, Executive Vice Chair at Department of Pediatrics and Chief of Division of Neonatology and Perinatology at Columbia University.

This conference was organized by Columbia University Irving Medical Center, NewYork–Presbyterian Hospital, and Capital Medical University and was hosted by Columbia Global Centers | Beijing, Capital Medical University Biomedical Valley, and Science Zone of Capital Medical University. The conference also received support from Health Human Resources Development Center at the National Health Commission of PRC, Medical Engineering Professional Committee of China Command and Control Society, and Ai You Foundation.

Through Beijing Global Center's partnership with Capital Medical University Biomedical Valley, together we have built a sustainable and effective dialogue mechanism between domestic and international medical experts to promote the interactive exchange between Columbia and international partners in health and medicine.
