TC visiting scholars share their AR educational application cases at the Beijing Center

New technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Virtual Reality (VR) are increasingly applied to education. Augmented Reality (AR) is an extension of VR technology. It sets up virtual information in the real environment, allowing learners to interact with learning content in a virtual-real combined environment using a computer or mobile device. 

On December 22, Columbia Global Centers | Beijing hosted the second panel discussion of Columbia Beijing Education Panel Series, discussing the practice of VR/AR application in education.

Speakers included Professor CAI Su and Ms. GUO Shanshan. CAI Su is the Associate Professor at Faculty of Education in Beijing Normal University, China, Director of VR/AR+Education Lab, Vice Director of the Joint Lab for Mobile Learning of Ministry of Education-China Mobile Communications Corporation, and Visiting Scholar at Teachers College, Columbia University. GUO Shanshan is an English Teacher at Tsinghua University Primary school and also a visiting scholar at Teachers College, Columbia University.

During the lecture, they introduced the status quo of the AR learning environment and the future development prospects in K-12 education, and shared the AR educational application cases from VR/AR+Education Lab in Beijing Normal University.

More than 60 people attended the event, and more than 84,000 people watched the event online.
