Arts, Culture and Contemporary Society

At the intersection of two significant historic actors- the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires- Turkey, and especially Istanbul, have acted as the bridge between East and West, both figuratively and literally. Turkey is a melting-pot of historical, ethnic, linguistic, and cultural heritage of the Middle East, Central Asia, and Europe. These legacies position both the city of Istanbul and the Istanbul Center to be a significant convener and explorer in topics relating to art, culture, and contemporary society.
