On the evening of June 4, 2015 in Paris, the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) launched a new initiative, SDSN Youth (SDSN-Y). 

Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Michelle K. Lee and the State Intellectual Property Office Deputy Director General Zhang Peng spoke at the Columbia Global Centers | Beijing on May 25 about education and careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. 

The Center, in conjunction with Columbia’s Office of Global Programs, is holding the sixth offering of the annual Arabic language program and the second offering of the Columbia MENA Summer Program in May-August 2015.

Columbia University offered a new intensive three-week summer program in May-June 2015 focused on democracy and constitutional engineering in the Middle East. The program is organized by Columbia Global Centers | Middle EastColumbia Global Centers | Turkey, and the Office of Global Programs.

Columbia Global Centers | Beijing is hosting a certificate workshop on energy and environment offered by Earth Institute this summer in Beijing, and co-sponsoring a certificate training program in teaching Chinese and a student summer program on social science at Columbia.

Dr. Thomas J. Trebat, Director of the Columbia Global Centers | Rio de Janeiro, has signed an agreement with Rio de Janeiro's State Finance Secretary, to allow researchers from Columbia University to use the data on tax revenue.

The President’s Global Innovation Fund awards grants for faculty members to leverage and engage Columbia’s global centers' network. The program is designed as a venture fund to enable the development of projects and research collaborations within and across these sites, in order to increase global opportunities for research, teaching, and service. 

Last week, the Columbia Global Centers | Rio de Janeiro was glad to co-host - along with CVM, the Brazilian regulators of Capital Markets - the Program in Law and Economics of Capital Markets, which is offered jointly by Columbia Law School and Columbia Business School. 

The Blue Voyagers exhibit opened with a splash April 15 in Istanbul—following a month-long run in Paris at Columbia Global Centers | Europe—and featured a reception, panel discussion and extensive coverage in the Turkish press. The exhibition will include a concert with Standard à la Turc on May 13 at Sismanoglio Megaro at 8 p.m.

On April 28 and 29, the Dean of Columbia University's School of Continuing Education, Kristine Billmyer, came to Rio de Janeiro accompanied by Enterprise Risk Management Professor Sim Segal.
